An economics PhD. student currently in Athens, GA.

Previously played in Belleville, IL; Urbana-Champaign, IL; and Iowa City, IA

Have never been accused of playing too slowly or over-thinking a hand. For some reason, I treat this is like its a good thing.

Fire and Ice: Properly Evaluating Information at the Bridge Table
I have no doubt the bridge in Martin's article is correct, but he gets the Monty Hall problem wrong. Switching is the better strategy, and the fact that Monty always reveals the dummy prize is important in that.
ATB- missing spade contract
Think South should bid stronger, although North should bid 3 over 3, so only mostly South.
Scott Spitze's bidding problem: KQT3 AT5 AK3 T94
1NT was my close second choice. Without 2, I bid 2NT here. Unfortunately, the guy bid 2 with 5.
A Bridge Problem (of Sorts)
Yeah, when they say with doubling, they mean with both doubles and redoubles.
Jack Gillispie's bidding problem: Q742 KQT53 63 86
I think game would not be unreasonable with this hand, depending on what partner has. I would bid 2, and after a transfer, I think 2 would show 5-4 with an invitational type hand. How weak is your 2 after 2-2?
