Who blocked the suit?
It seems to me, east-west needs to have some kind of agreement. Trying to cater to every possible hand is just guessing. Of course whatever the agreement is, there will be hands where the other lead is better.
Who blocked the suit?
You can certainly create hands where the K works out better. By partnership agreement and following Larry Cohen's book on opening leads, we lead fourth best.
Who blocked the suit?
Shouldn't east lead fourth best from KQxx(x)? Now west doesn't have to fear KQ94. Don't play Patti leads.

Play This Hand
I almost don't even look at opponents signalling. A combination of they don't know what they are doing and they aren't signalling for my benefit. Level of competition might matter. Anywayz anyone from bridgeworld shouldn't have to go into the tank on whether to unblock the ...
Play This Hand
When east continues the jack of spades, he denies the ten. From QJ10x(x) he would continue the ten. So partner doesn't have a nasty guess on whether to unblock the king. (Dynamic defense problem #1) So if we haven't seen the 10, west has that card and ...

I was the victim if a grosvenor coup a couple weeks ago. After 4 on my left, partner doubles, and I take it out to 5 which becomes the final contract. Partner has KJ93 K and I have Q1064 Q64 no losers in the minors. Ace of spades ...
Claim ruling poll
I'm at the same regional Debbie is at. Does she look like her picture?
Is a weighted ruling ever appropriate in a claim situation?
This isn't a "Test your play " problem. Once you make a bad claim it doesn't matter that the contract makes on an elementary squeeze. You are never going to be awarded three heart tricks.
