My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 1
You're absolutely right about this. It's a play I would have made in my sleep against a human, but the robot so often blindly continues its opening lead suit if ducked that I reflexively ducked. I should have taken more time on that hand.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 4
Yup. Hard to believe, too. This session more than the other three had me really struggling to understand why the robots were choosing the actions they did.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 4
My comment was more along the lines of if you have zero keycards you don't usually show your void.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 3
I had planned to rebid 2NT, but the double scared me off.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 3
Yup, the successful declarers did exactly that. The West robots didn't find the spade shift and those declarers made their contract. I've just had a lot of luck seeing the robots pitch winners when I run my long suit, so I went for that line. On this occasion ...
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 3
Good point, Jon, I should have done that.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 3
An additional point: against the robot, you're allowed to make illegal bids. Stuff that no director would put up with in a human event.
My ACBL NABC Online Individual Journey - Day 2
Interesting addendum: My GNT teammate Paul Gutterman is playing this event as well. He doesn't know the robot's tendencies so is playing more or less straight up the middle. He's in 45th place overall. So just maybe this event isn't as much about exploiting the robots ...
Shortest Board Ever
I have a similar story. Declaring 7NT, partner got impatient when LHO took a while to find an opening lead and claimed. Turns out I actually had my bids and he had 13 tricks on any defense.
GNT Final: District 9 vs. District 21
I stopped watching midway through the third quarter. It was obvious D9 was spent after yesterday's match and just had nothing left in the tank. Poor decisions one on top of the other. And D21 punished each and every one, playing near-flawless bridge. Congratulations to D21.
