Play Problem in 3H (Matchpoints)
I'll let it ride to my King.
Distribs. for 1NT with stiff A/K/Q
While I almost never do it (and only with a stiff K if I do. I have problems with partners who do it when they have an easy rebid. To me, never with a 5 card major; Never when 5 diamonds and 4 clubs with decent suits. The rare times ...
Play Problem in 3H (Matchpoints)
The answer to your question is no as the likelihood of a 3-2 heart break is almost 80% (assuming West has 3 spades and 6 clubs). That is the reason for King of hearts and then a heart to the Ace. If they break, your pull the last trump and ...
Count or Attitude
one of the nice things here is its an opening 3rd seat play. One should always take time before playing to the first trick so it will be hard for it to be "slow" in the normal meaning
Is this an exception to a rule
While I don't like the 2 bid, it has become all to common and can live with it. After the 2 rebid, this is a misfit auction and the sooner we get out of it the better.
What's the better line?
Rich I do hope you are taking away from the K&R evaluation the points given for the doubleton diamond. If I remember right that is one point. So the hand for notrump is worth 18.70 points, although not sure K&R is right to use for notrump evaluation.
What's the better line?
And just why are you opening this hand 2NT. You have 19HCP and the 5 card suit is relatively weak. If this is a hand you normally upgrade you should change your 2NT range to 19-21
Karel de Raeymaeker's bidding problem: J9x QT7xx Kxx xx
Partner bid 2 vulnerable. I play in has opening hand values.
Is 1!c-1!d-1!h-1!s an Exception to 4th Suit Forcing to Game?
Marty if you are playing Walsh you can't have an invitatonal hand with spades.
Is 1!c-1!d-1!h-1!s an Exception to 4th Suit Forcing to Game?
I play Walsh and the version I play is as follows. I play 1 in auction A as artificial and a one round force. It denies 4 spades and asks partner if he has a spade stopper. Auction B I play 2 as spades and game forcing.
