LOL Selling or Buying?
National Home Bridge Day
It appears that my memory is incomplete. :(
When does a "Takeout Double" of 1!C become Ineffective?
We play Power TO X (15+ hcp), thus the club length is immaterial. However, if are less than 3, we pass with up to 14 hcp for one round without a good suit to bid.
Defensive Approach versus Canapé Openings
Upgrade your suit overcalls to very good suit. Playing canape and Precision I frequently get the chance to double for penalty those overcalls that are poor 5-cd suits. Use offshape TO X :) or pass and double for TO on next round after you know RHO distribution.
Best defence to a possibly-short 1C?
I usually ask how many diamonds does a 1 opener promise to help me gauge what they are doing.

National Home Bridge Day
We have been doing this for 25 years, once a month, 3 tables, 20 hands. Dinner out first, then duplicate bridge at the hosts home with dessert for 6 couples in Tennessee. Before that we did individual, 3 tables, 20 hands in Ohio.
Strong club, 4c major system
@Dave: In Precision & Super Precision, Belladonna & Garozzo, 1975, page 184: 1 - 1 - 3 = 5+ & 4 <4-losers, forcing, no 4M With equal length in the minors opener rebids 3
Strong club, 4c major system
Interesting comments on playing such systems in club games. I have played a 4-cd Major and canape system for over 5 years in one of our local clubs. When I play another system, the opponents ask where is my pre-alert card?
An Embarrassing Unintended Pass
I had this happened also when the opponents ask about every bid with no intention of bidding, even during slam auctions. Allowable, but one has to focus harder!
