BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
Good question. No. We are going to wait until after the Philadelphia NABC. Working on some changes to make it simpler and to take into account all the comments here.
Unifying 2/1 -- Conclusions
Howard, yes, also 4=5=2=2 minimum.. Ed -- I'm happy with most ideas if both partners have great memories and promise to thoroughly discuss on/off in comp and all follow-ups.
Unifying 2/1 -- Conclusions
Bob -- How's your golf by the way? I'd think the biggest issue is to know what partner rebids after 1-2 with: A765 KQ765 QJ2 2 or 1065 KQ765 K2 A106 or A2 KQ765 32 AJ32 If your answer to any of these is 2, that ...
BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
We took the votes/preferences and molded them into something congruous for both ways (SHAPE/STRENGTH). For 1-2-2any-4, we wanted the SHAPE people to use the jump to announce dead minimum--to get off the slam-exploration track. That way, they could keep bidding out their shape and deny ...
BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
John - -Let me try another way. "No announcement" means 6-10 -- old fashioned "Semi-forcing" announcement means that a 2/1 response would be GF, so the 1NT response includes hands that couldn't bid an old-fashioned, "Standard" 6-10 1NT. Argue all you want, but this is how ACBL currently has it ...
Unifying 2/1 -- Conclusions
Hi Bob, The point is to be able to say "SHAPE" or "STRENGTH" and sit down and play with a new partner using the guidelines in the chart. Without doing that, there would be more misunderstandings.
BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
John, You are giving wrong information. No announcement if 1NT is old-fashioned 6-10 is fine. If you play 2/1 GF and the 1NT response is up to 12, you must make an announcement. Announce "Forcing" if opener has to bid again on any hand. Announce "Semi-forcing" if opener will ...
BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
John, This must be a semantics issue. Someone I know thought the announcement "almost forcing" would be nice. If opener will pass with a 5-3-3-2 minimum, then it is NOT forcing. Period. The ACBL convention card says: "Semi-forcing" in blue. What did I say that isn't true?
BW 2/1 SHAPE and STRENGTH System Summaries
Because of the polls/votes.

In "SHAPE" -- yes. Rebid 2NT after 1-2 with: AKJxx xxx xxx Ax.
