about me

I am a retired attorney and a long time bridge volunteer but also a strong advocate for an improved and open ACBL. Among other things I have been chairman of the last four NABC and 31 regionals in Atlanta.

My other hobby is coaching high level girls' AAU basketball.

Does anyone know what time it is?
I have running Regionals in Atlanta dor decades and our attendance is large usually between 2900 to 3300 tables. However I strongly disagree with Len's comments that the fault lies with the TC of those events. What TC can and can not do is very much controlled by others.
Does anyone know what time it is?
Unintended consequences of the actions of the BOD over the last decade. We have local one session club events in Atlanta awarding 8 plus master points in very weak fields. Every year the BOD finds a new way to give away more master points including gold points and on line ...
Flannery Disclosure
1♣ (could be short) pass 1♥pass1NT holding four spades On the one hand we are told not to alert bids that do not require an alert and on the other hand we want to be fair to players who might not suspect such an agreement. In announcing that the ...
Handling Interference over our One No Trump opening. (FTL)
Corrected Version We open a No trump and they Bid at the two level. Simple our basically systems are on! By combining using a double of certain two level bids as transfers, using two spades as size asking and also using Larry Cohen structure of Transfer Lebensohl , I have put ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
One reason the ACBL BOD is in a such a mess now is that in the past there were many deals to keep members of the BOD happy. One county in California with probably less than 3500 members being a District and realigning District boundaries in poor ways to keep ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
There maybe a difference of an opinion whether the Membership or the BOD of Governors gives the best chance of getting the Bylaws amendments past. The easy answer is let us try both approaches. We need to have a few people working on preparing the proposed bylaws and get them ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
Then we will find a new person to run against them as well as a strong effort to change their views by discussing with them individually about the need for change. More importantly having a dialogue or discussion with all board members of their District or Unit Boards about why ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
One other approach to change. In the past, I have been told there were about 9 members of the BOD who desire or willing to support a meaningful change in the structure and the role of the BOD. Maybe we need to put on paper (on this site) who ...
ACBL Chief Executive Dismissed
Sorry, no matter who we get it will be hard for them to do much given the existing structure. When the COI with huge support from membership was seeking changes (that were promised but never occurred in any real way) our major push was to change the structure and size ...
The Death of 4-Session KO's
In Atlanta we run several four session events but in years past it was even longer before it became flighted.
