The value of videos
About slow play there was a situation in the Netherlands in the 90s. I was a timer in some other segment, not in the one leading to the ruling, but I know what was going on. The timer checks each slow play / bid with one marker per 10 seconds. There ...
Have you ever reversed on a 2-card suit?
If it's the only forcing available, it's not really a reverse, is it. With some partners I have the same problem we simply call it "multi-reverse", that is either natural or BWDH or forcing 1-suiter.
Transfer into opponent's preempt suit at the 3/4-level after a 2NT overcall
Transfer on the 3-level to opener's suit is exactly invitational in the other major (with 5+ cards). On the 4-level didn't happen yet.
Have you EVER been a better partner?
When playing a strong system partner opened 1 (showing a rather mediocre hand with at least 4), and opponent doubled. With a solid suit and as only weakness AQxx behind the Dbl, I passed to see what LHO would do. Then I raised to 7 ...
IBPA MPP Book of the Year Shortlist
If so, why aren't there more pages like page 64 in your book? :-)
Watching Videos of F-N from Opatija
As others have noted, the part where you would WANT to get illicit information most during the auction is when your partner has opened two of something in F-N system. I've been playing the two-bids for quite a while now, and there are some hands where you are simply ...
You Be the Judge: who overbid?
Although I can understand North downgrading with a minimum 4333 and no intermediates, the action will be very much anti-field. Better to try 1N - 3N with the field and make one trick more than the rest of the bunch. Not raising to game with 10 HCP opposite 15-17 is nuts ...
What would be comparable?
Dbl as pass/correct would certainly not be comparable to 2 pass/correct as Dbl is unlimited and 2 was limited. I would accept 3 if it is pass/correct as comparable.
What do you say if anything?
My personal strategy is to say nothing during the session and discuss clearly after the session or after the tournament. Then I will state my opinion that 3 was a terrible bid and not pretend that I felt it was close. During the session, it is my job to ...
Gerben Dirksen's bidding problem: 8642 9643 QT K72
I passed, partner DID have a 4-card major (as he would approximately 50% of the time) and it would have played better. However how do you weigh in the fact that on the one hand: * when you wiggle, opponents are more likely to bid something other than Dbl, but on ...
