ACBL Business Continuity

I am guessing that most ACBL members received Georgia Heth's message about how the ACBL is adjusting its staffing model in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

Few immediate thoughts on this end:

  • I consider it very generous of the ACBL to continue to cover medical insurance for furloughed employees.  I'm not sure how wise or sustainable this is going to be, but it does show that their hearts are in the right place.
  • In a similar vein, I appreciate that they are choosing to cut hours and reduce compensation (presumably in order to be abe to keep more people on the payroll).  Spreading the pain feels like a good choice, especially with management taking cuts as well
  • I think that the short terms actions that the organization is taking make sense.  I wish that I had more confidence regarding long term structural adjustments.
