I would never sit for a double below the 4 level, but you are right, we MIGHT get too high.

Massive diamond fit makes 2 look good, even if this is a lot weaker than normal. Partner needs to know I have 5 and opponents already have spades in the mix.

I agree with Ken. The chances of me getting to defend 1 doubled are pretty slim. South or West will probably want to play elsewhere.

I pretty much always show my suit, even when playing Flannery. Only time I would not is when I am strong enough to bid it later at the 2 or 3 level.

I actually love the bulletins. More hands would be nice, sure, but most of us have watched on BBO. The puzzles are great.

Only if they get a chance to open. What if North opens 1?

It is like pornography, you will know it when you see it.

I too play it could be with a 3-card limit raise hand, so it needs to be a 1 round force to cater to that. If there is some other way to show that type of hand, then semi-forcing is probably better.

We must be able to keep them from interfering with trash (as so many now are prone to do), and penalty doubles do that.

Barring a 4-1 split it is cold, losing 1, 1 and, maybe, 1. Go up and play trumps.

Linda,
This is not common around here, but I like it. Actually I had a very good player tell me that when partner transfers and you have 4 you should bid game because on most hands it will make somehow.

I agree with you and Michael. 2 SOUNDS like extras, and are we not suppose to alert calls with unexpected meanings?

Our post-mortems are usually based on things that need to be talked about right now…why was that not forcing, how would you have taken a double, did my defense mislead you?

You have to decide which type of hand is more likely, or which you want to do most of the time.

Pretty standard NT raise. I play Gerber after an opening NT or if the last call was NT. In this case, I play 4 is RKC Gerber with spades as trumps and 4 as regular Gerber.

But in ACBL land it must be a singleton honor.

Roger, somewhat similarly, I remember years ago there was a 6-handed bridge game with wheels and rackets as 2 new suits, and you had 2 dummies when playing. I brought some wheels to a game once and lead them against NT. You should have seen declarer's face.

That was my idea, take you time, ask for aces. At our table it was 7 swish.
And this was an actual computer-generated hand. Director uses DealMaster Pro.

I always thought it would be nice if Deep Finesse would show the play instead of just saying there is one!!!
