In PC 1 may have longer . Our QUC is a PC derivate and we use 1N to differentiate between longer and longer .

After having agreed that 1 always shows 4, the next step is 1 is always unbalanced. Open all balanced hands outside your 1N-range 1. We open 1 even with 5-3-3-2.

Mike, I‘m only referring to agreements. IMHO all systems, conventions and styles should be allowed as long as they are properly explained on the CC. Of course we need the rules of the game itself. Presenting opps with a CC is one rule we shouldn’t do away with, rather enforce it.

„ What am I missing?“ Nothing really, just that all these rules and regulations are sily.

Looking at the result of the poll non-forcing is far from obvious. Having said that, I agree with non-forcing.

Other: 2 is non-forcing, can be 5-4 but I raise nevertheless because this is no longer a minimum. X would be t/o with . I‘d bid 2 with 5431 with decent , so X is likely 5440 or 5341.

We don‘t invert either. 1N shows longer or 16-18 with 5-4 either way. 2M always 4.

It‘s on my CC in the summary as well as on the opening bid page. If opps don‘t even have a glance at the summary NMP!

A revoke is a mistake like any other. I usually play fast if It is clear how to play the hand. I know some players follow my speed and are more likely to make a mistake. It never occurred to me that the mistake could be a revoke. I take advantage of any mistake my opps make and if possible I give them every opportunity to make a mistake. It doesn‘t matter if the contract is unmakeble or cold, overtricks count. And don‘t tell me overtricks are not important at imps. Two years ago we lost in the quarter finals of a knock-out competition … by 1 imp.

I agree that 2M with 1 and 3M as well as with 15 and 4M is not good, but surely there are better methods then jumping to 3 with a nondescript 14. If 1 is always unbalanced as proposed here, put the 3crd raises in 1N. As for buying the contract, is the master suit and the law says no. Playing WNT makes life easier, then a single raise is always strong(er) either in hcp or distribution.

„OP didn't ask what would be our rebid over 1♥ nor if we agree with 2NT or even if OK with 1♦ opening.“ Patrick, then why do you criticize 2N?
One side question: What is „Am“, which you frequently use?

1-1; 3 with 14+5 doesn‘t sound like winning bridge to me.

Frances, I don‘t understand X t/o. The whole idea of the balanced X of 2 is to be able to penalize.

I wouldn‘t X as S and don‘t understand Ns 3 at all.

In my partnership (with a different rebidding structure) it‘s a Q.

For me the bidding would be the same. That is why the 2nd round splinter should be strictly limited and 3 should be bid with a stronger hand. Then I would sign off with your hand (nothing in , only 1 KC), make a non-serious slam try (I prefer 3) with the OP-hand and a serious slam try with A or even Q of in stead of .

2 is not a serious overbid as the hand is worth 12 points (unless you are a walrus).

N should bid 4 in stead of 4. Add the A to S‘s hand and it becomes a monster, to strong for a splinter in my book. S would either bid 3 or after a splinter continue over N‘s sign off.
