My 1st thoughts are he should be fired also.
I believe if you are a member of a team or an organization you have an obligation when in public light representing them you need to realize boundaries.
Every bridge game or tournament you go to you represent ACBL
I think an apology is in order.

One thing a person needs to realize is when I speak critically of someone how will it be perceived and who am I representing when I say it.
Is this the thoughts of all ACBL employees?

This does not effect me but you know what I feel sad for you.
You had a great a win and at time everyone was and still is so happy for you
Now if this win is casing you discomfort or in any way taints your love to play and gives you cause to rethink places you play how can this be good for bridge?
Players dream of a win as you had and rather than encourage others ACBL once again gets the end result wrong!
Playing great bridge and winning is always rewarding but so too can be a day at a local tournament playing with friends and just enjoying the game.

I question who is he speaking for? As an acbl employee or just personal views.
If he is unhappy being an acbl employee move on.
Also what is his bridge history how long has he been with Acbl as a player or employee.
Some of us have had to deal with acbl for 30 years
And have had many more negative interactions than positive ones.

So what happens when he plays in Bermuda Bowl this year or the another one does?
Does that mean whole event can't be shown on BBO?

You have to be realistic, do baseball players who cheat give back all their contract money?
Do Olympic athletes return sponser money?

Silly to even think someone should return the money.

Never play another bridge tournament, what makes bridge so special?

Oh wait just was allegation and soon to be proven Houston Astros cheated to win a world series think owner will give back all teams profits from that year? Or even regulate the trophy?
Should Tom Brady be kicked out of football he cheated got caught?

He cheated at a card game! Maybe 1000 people in the world even care.
People cheat all the time, in baseball you can cork a bat sit out 40 games and fans cheer louder when u return.
Get over it if you only think of negative nothing positive will happen.
Cheating is part of daily life.

For side table I use patio tables I got at Walmart
they are metal and round the top pops off and is interchangeable.
I bought red white black and green
easy to clean and very functional because of lips on top spilled coffee never touches floor.
Tables I use a plastic one bought at staples very sturdy and about 4 inches bigger than an over size card table, we put table cloths on but bad part is bid boxes don't attach have to just on the corner.

Cited them because u asked for data
Just because I don't agree with it it is still data. Just because I question it doesn't make it wrong
Do you have any data to disprove these claims l don't.

I did not order the survey or calculate the results, the ACBL did
and it appeared in bulletin in Nov.
Survey Monkey handled the posting survey, and calculating results.
Survey Monkey is a respected company so how can you or I question what they say based on number of questions asked.

Do I personally believe these numbers. l think numbers can be made to dance to whatever tune you prefer that day, so NO.

so this information ACBL received through a paid survey run by professionals is “bull”
or are you misreading results.
Survey says these players are already playing 1 in 15 play once a year,
Survey also says that 20% of the 59 million who don't know how to play would like to learn, maybe these are the people walking into your club.

Same article in the 90's sports illustrated found there to be 8 to 10 million bridge players today there are 15 million in this group alone not just total.
Same article claims in the 60's there were 40 million bridge players.
I agree hard to prove any of these numbers as accurate but if they are true why hasn't ACBL moved off their stagnant membership number?
I would think one way to find out social numbers survey club owners they always know about social games in their area.

DATA
How about a recent survey of 45 year old and older in USA
showed that this is a group of 75 million
showed that 1 in 15 play bridge once a year- about 5 million
among the 60 million who don't play 20% would like to learn

So ACBL has 168 thousand members out of 5 million in this age bracket, the rest would be classified as social players by me you may call them something else but they are there.

Now I am sure you will say where did I get these numbers are they creditable or not I can't say yes but ACBL did this survey and printed these results page 22 November bulletin.

Protect existing games and clubs.
Why allow another to get a sanction same time and day and be within a mile of an existing game. Should there not be a 25 mile boundary around mmy CLUB?
Please don't say I have an open sanction and they have a 0 5000 or invitational sanction;what is an invitational sanction anyways one where u pic and choose who can play?
I can open across street from you and charge 2 dollars less than you, whhy recruit when I can steal players.

2ndly. Reward clubs for longevity I have had my club 25years but it is dated back to 1950s.

3rd
Give us representation on BOD just knowing they are there and working on behalf of all clubs be a positive thing.

4th a tournament comes along ACBL wants me to promote it to players knowing in end it costs me money when players go there and not my club that day. What is my payback or when is it?
Ellis
If things are so great for clubs within ACBL why do we loose 2 to 300clubs a year? Please don't say players dying off because social bridge is growing out of control.
Do the bridge laws really help or hinder most clubs?

Lastly show some gratitude for the money we send in, tired reading how BOD wasted millions and shows no respect for money BOD insisting meeting in Hawaii a prime example.

i am against recruitment incentives for players you recruit who just play at your club. Once they start playing at tournaments I am all for clubs getting a fee based on amount they play.
Look at this way if I go recruit 10 players they play at my club for a year l have made money off them , the ACBL really hasn't
minute they start attending tournaments ACBL is profiting so now they should pay.
