To get people to watch, the players must play faster. Waiting for three minutes while someone considers his lead is as exciting as watching paint dry. No, wait, that's being unfair to the paint …

I discovered today that the games are played barometer style, so that every pair plays every board, and boards are played simultaneously at all tables. That means the only movement consideration is maximizing the number of opponents.

1 meter is a little over 3 feet, so bigger than 9 feet by 9 feet. It's not a question of armlength, but of distance vision.

You'll be happy to know that the virtual club games are paying out 150% of what face-to-face games play. For instance, a 9 table, two winner game played face-to-face pays 0.9 points to the winners in each direction (27 boards usually). A virtual club game of 9 tables, playing six 3 board rounds, pays 1.35 points to the winner who did NOT finish first across both directions, and more to the overall winner.

I think divide by 3. There are 3 ways to have 2 suits, but only one way to have two majors.

I don't play on BBO, but my understanding is that you're stuck with the Mitchell movement. Depending on table count, there are lots of better choices, and it seems like the director should be able to use movement files like he can in ACBLScore.

I think if you play that the cheaper of 2NT or 2oM is the relay, it is called Ingberman, essentially a slightly more efficient form of lebensohl.

My mistake, I was looking at the Tampa Regional in May, it was only recently cancelled.

It does make it easier to find if it's spelled correctly.

I don't know about the follow-ups, but the basic idea (1M - 2x - 2M showing only 5, and 1M - 2x - 2NT showing six) is known as the Shuler Shift.

I like to play that after our side opens 2C, the opponents are NEVER allowed to play any undoubled contract.

I think pass by opener shows a minimum (in context) balanced hand. Furthermore, if opener now wants to treat the hand as unbalanced with diamonds, I think that 4D should be forcing, even if responder has a yarborough. I also think that at this point, 3NT should show a stronger hand than pass does.

Something else to consider - on the first hand you're in direct seat, partner still has another bid, so you're not forced to decide. On the second hand, you're in the passout seat, the decision has been left to you by partner.

4333 limit raise. The 4 card suit can be any of the four suits.

We also use 1M - 3NT as 4333 game force.

1M - 2NT is limit+, may be only 3 trumps, but not 4333.

On my screen it says it was posted by ACBL Official, but it also says Series : April Fools.

I think that's kind of a giveaway

The best part (IMO) was the statement that they've been working on the problem of slow play for 16 years.

I assume the auction has proceeded :

3x - (P) - 3y - (P)

and you're asking whether opener is permitted to pass? Also, I'm assuming that 3y was NOT 3NT.

If this is correct, I'll complain that the title is pretty confusing.
