For simplicity, If I play two diamonds positive and
two hearts negative, two clubs is forcing to 2NT,
three of a major or four of a minor. Therefore,
two clubs has to be strong and you can not have
something that is weaker than it is supposed to be.
Also I have never had much luck opening two clubs
with two suits.

I have decided not to elaborate on this subject on
Bridge Winners. It is too personal and would probably
get me kicked off. The short term answer is to keep
politics and the game apart. The game is far more
important.

Brad: I have been there and I would like to comment;
however, it is too complicated. I might create a post
and go over what I learned.

Congratulations Curtis. I remember the good times
with you Brian and Julie and Disa.

It was a German Tournament and I was in the army.
I played in ACBL tournaments in Ramstein. BTW,
thanks all for the info.

As I recall, if you doubled, you had to be able to
defeat three clubs.

Perhaps Craig was more into the N-S auction then
the E-W bidding. Appears he was creating a situation
by having east doubling. Sure did not work IMO.

Have to agree about smoking but most of my partners and
team-mates have passed. I liked qualifying open pairs,BAM
and having only one K/O at a regional. Because they
were few tournaments, they were well attended and
every one played together so you made new friends.
I was not getting ripped off with dues increases
and entry fee increases. There were no non-events.
This is a bad joke but if you play with me, or as a
team-mate, you should increase your life insurance.

That may be true. It was a long time ago but apparently
it was first reported as a pass. I do not know what
happened when it was reported to the Bulletin or who
reported it.

Your comments: “rest of the story” and “just the facts”
remind me of Paul Harvey and Jack Webb.

BTW. One of Barry Crane's rules (and I suspect others)
was never play your partner for the perfect hand
because they will never have it.

I believe the finals were in a barometer format when
I played in it many years ago.

James, you have to add a point for all four aces.
But I guess you have to subtract a point for 4x3
distribution.
