A useful gadget is here that 2 asks for -Fit and MIN/MAX (in the context of not having broken the transfer first). Playing this i would try to get to a miracle slam. Otherwise i bid 3N.

If not explicitly agreed i dont think that 3 should be GF. All GF hands with a heart fit can be shown by bidding 4th suit first and agreeing hearts later on. For me 2 and 3 would be invitational and highly invitational hands with 3 hearts.
Anyway, i bid 4 now. My excellent diamond support is the most important information for partner.

Partner must hold a spade stopper and (at least) one fitting diamond picture card. Thus i wont play this one below 6 . As pd neednt have 3 diamonds and the opps seem to have a lot of distribution, too (north might be void in ), i wont try to play 7.

So i simply bid what i think i can make -> 6

I´m not sure whether pass and pull at the 4 level is a clear slam try (Besides: how would this help facing DBxx, B10x, Ax, KBxx) and i dont think that 4 is clearly forcing (wouldnt you pass with i. e. DBx, B10xx,Axx, KBx?)

I would have never passed in the first round. If you simply play that 1 S denies 4+ spades and X shows them, then you dont have this very unpleasant problem. I really hate passing first und cuebidding now…..

With long and excellent clubs i want to bid NOW. How else will we ever reach 3N, if pd has ABxx, KDx, KBxx, 10x? 2 will of course be understood as a cuebid so in my opinion 3 stands out a mile. Passing now wont solve anything and may cause a lot of problems later on.

i would never pass with this hand after this auction. If i had to choose between 4 and Pass i would bid 4…..

i really hate the 4 bid in the first round….never mentioning a nearly solid 8 card suit?!? After that terrible bid West tried to compensate……As East i would have taken exactly the same bids.

East should envision that his pd might not want to play a trump from his side of the table, so he should ruff the third club and play a trumpf himself. He knows that this must be the best defense.

But you played for the best chance and got your reward :)

i would have bid 3 in the previous round. Now - as pd shows extras - i will bid 4

Echoing: I would have opened 1NT of course :) (if playing a weak NT this is no problem). Now i´m stuck, as i´m way too strong for 1 1NT rebid promising 12-14 HCP

Not being ashamed of my opening bid i would support XX with the east hand. Why not? i have a good hand for hearts.

1 XX can be beaten with good defense but it is not so easy. Besides i cant imagine that N will sit for this contract….Would you? :) If you switch South´s Q of with East´s 7 1 is absolutely cold….

This is very complete material, thank you for your thoughtful work :) We played most of this stuff anyway, but could close some gaps. Already waiting for part 3 :)

Board 1: Playing Precision the North hand is an automatic opening bid and even in a natural frame i hate to pass with AAK. After 1 Cl (NAT) Pass 1Sp pass 1N you will probably play a cosy 1NT contract with (at least) 7 easy tricks. So your partners pass in second seat caused some later problems…..

In the second board East has A LOT for a 3 opening bid. I can understand the 3NT bid but dont know how west found his X. With the weak hand i would XX to express doubt, if that is agreed. Then you will probably play 4 , the best possible contract.

I dont like passing 11 HCP hands and i dont like bidding 1N with 5-11 HCP, but this is part of your system i guess. So i have to bid 1NT and hope for the best……

There is a very acitve brige club in Berlin, which offers all sorts of courses and information about bridge. More information can be found here:

Looking at the homepage this surely looks like it is worth to be tried. Good luck!

1. I would have opened 1NT
2. Double was asking for trouble….looks like an obvious 3NT bid to me
3. 6 Cl was a rather terrible bid……one has to try 4NT or 5 Cl now although the boat was already missed (3NT).

Partner bid 5 deliberately. After that there is no stopping me…..i guess that we will often defend 6 X…..

What is the goal? 3 tricks or 4?

In a natural system i would expect a 6+4+ hand in , in Polish Club i think it must be NAT (probably 22-23 NT, not 4 )

After the 4 bid there is no way i would bid less than 6 as West…..This is pretty obvious i think….
