i like to play 2NT as Puppet Stayman, this way you can also include (31)(54) GF hands in this bid

I have a 10 card heart fit, the Spade queen, the now protected Club king and the nvul Opps are silent…..So 4 looks pretty obvious to me :)

This looks like a rather obvious 5 bid to me……i wont sit for 4 or 5 with this hand…..;-) And i wont play spades where i will be forced sooner or later and can forget about establishing and enjoying diamonds…..

1) yes, i would bid 2NT (which for us is always INV when having a fit in a major)
2) Strong, BAL, Not 5 , Pass would show a weak Hand,
3) 3 GF, requests more information
4) 3 NAT, competitive

i think East can´t pass with this hand. X is of course a bit risky, but with Qx in partner s suit and these excellent spades passing is even more dangerous.

The hand is too strong for a 14-16 1NT.

4 is a clear underbid, you want to be at least in Game. Would have bid 4 which i think is a rather obvious choice.
BTW: Passing 2 Sems a Bit passive to me.

Congrats to Bridge24! I knew they were a very good team but didnt expect them to beat team Zagorin……After winning that match on the last board they were on a roll……Very exciting bridge :)

i would have openened the North hand automatically. Nevertheless i wouldnt dream of passing the South hand in 4th seat (both majors, 15 Pearson Points, easy rebid…..), especially when partner sometimes passes 12 HCP hands ;-))

It works much better to play 2 as asking for Fit and MIN/MAX and 2NT, 3, 3 (shows spades) as second round transfers (3 6+ hearts, GF+)…..Opener bids the first step with fit for responder´s second suit (might have M fit too) and the second step with only fit for opener´s first suit…..The next 2 steps show good holdings in the lower/higher suit left.

Here it´s a matter of style, whether you generally show stoppers or ask for stoppers……

If you show stoppers i´ll bid 4 pattering out (if pd has a good 4card spade suit, the 4-3 fit will play excellently)

If it asks for stoppers i´ll bid 3N

Opener should of course bid After 2 S. Playing Good-Bad he has an obvious 2NT bid to show a distributional Hand without many HCP.

When opener shows 5-5 in MM, the grand looks like a real possibility with the North hand…..(5 trumps, excellent intermediates, total control of hearts)

I would simply ask for Keycards and bid the grand when pd has 2….

you can count
5 trumps
at least 3 heart ruffs
heart ace, diamond ace club ace
probably the long heart

and pd till now has only shown 7 points…….;-)

Very interesting, this concept of leading away from honors! Quite logical, when you think about it!

i wouldnt have passed as dealer and i really dont feel comfortable passing throughout with 6-5. Of course i can go for a number, but it´s a bidders game…..

Downgrade with 2 Tens and one 9 and 18 HCP?! Hmmmm..
Pd wont like it with a lot of 7 HCP point hands and 3 or more hearts….
