Is this 14 HCP hand with 5 controls really a weak NT? ;-) I think I would open 1N even when playing 15-17,

I hate the 1 opening bid with the North hand. Wrong distribution, pd expects less strength.
This is an obvious 2 bid……Then you will reach 7 N with ease. Nevertheless, South should ask for KC in Clubs after 3, however this is done in the system…..Maybe you have a chance then, too.

NVUL all? What a question :-)

Would have Xed last round. For me, these are too bad for a 2 bid and I'm ready to play anything pd suggests. I don't want to emphasize hearts but having an opening bid with short diamonds.

Well, after this lead I will try to get 4 spade tricks and will deny the club finesse. If the opening leader has a stiff queen of spades and Kx(x) in clubs, so be it.

Hmm, is this probable? The heart values must be distributed rather evenly, otherwise someone would have found a heart bid. And playing for a ruff with Kx(x) in clubs? Doubtful, I think.

Q of lead? Really? :-)
Double Dummy this is easy. I will take the ace of spades, play a club to the ace, a spade to the 9, cash the J of spades, reach dummy with the K of and discard one of my heart losers on the K of spades.

But who leads the Q of against this bidding? A red suit lead stands out a mile, as NS didn't want to play 3N. I would prefer a heart.

We play all doubles which are not clearly defined as penalties as takeout. So no worries :)

1 is fine. I would answer 1 with your hand, but this is not without risk. If you can bid 2 to show a weak hand with 6+ ! S, do that for all means. 2 is terrible, XX to show strength is obvious.

First hand:: I have a nice hand for a precision 3rd hand opener and will X for takeout now.

Second hand:I really dislike 1N with xxx, xxx in the majors. Just find another bid, which one is a matter of style. Now I pass being VUL, partner should have done something if appropriate.

Responder possibly has so many hearts that he knows, his pd has spades. And then 2 might be tactical, giving the opponents a chance to hang themselves.

7-9 HCP, 4 card support, no shortness.

Looking at my heart holding, I'm a bit surprised about the slow start of the auction. I would at least expect a 2 bid by RHO. So I think that there is a chance that opener has spades. I will try X (takeout of ) and will correct potential club bids from pd to diamonds (ELC).

Is there a link to an Apple version of this software? I found a couple of Euchre apps but nothing from “Karman”.

But opener will pass 1N with 13 HCP, right? And then you have the dreaded partial with 25 HCP. I understand you risk that when you are NVUL.

If East has QJxx in clubs, isn't a club still the best chance to develop some tricks, sacrificing one trick first?

The 10 is a good card though.
