Well, you have the boss suit and surely not enough to play at the 3 level facing a pd who could only bid 1. So why not pass first and bid 2 later if appropriate. Do you really think North will bid at the 3 level, when he could only pass after X? I dont.

By the way when 2 is only a noise, what do you do with a constructive hand? And pls dont tell me you cuebid with 17 or 18 HCP facing potentially 0 HCP.

Bidding only 1 with the east hand is a bit lame, but you have 4333, bad trumps and A LOT of losers. 2 is simply cra zy and deserves 150% of the blame. With the east hand I would have bid 3N next.

At these colors in this situation, X more or less doesn't exist. Partner is a passed hand, you were too weak to X 1 or take another positive action and you are VUL against NVUL.

Another hand, where Gazzilli helps a lot, letting both players describe their hands without jumping and killing bidding space or risking nonforcing bids, you dont want to be nonforcing.

BTW: Bidding 2 with the east hand VUL against NVUL facing a passed pd is……(tongue in cheek) enterprising ;-)

I really hate the bidding. Tough luck.

Memory risk huge? The lower cue simply shows the forcing hand with the unbid suit and the higher one (when both suits are known) the inv+ hand with fit. This hand shows why this is the superior treatment.

Now I will guess 6, hoping for the best.

3-3 fits with excellent trumps happen and are often diffiult to defend. Here I think, a trump lead looks very plausible. If the queen of is on declarer's side(with at least 3 cards), where will it be?

Well, it is totally obvious that south cant have the queen of trumps. Nevertheless, you have to say so, before putting your cards back into the board.

Nowadays, this board will be played in 5 X for 1 down after the totally obvious 1 opening bid.

I hate these bids, too. The bidding of the bots is terrible. Just live with it ;.)

I don't think that relays after 1 - 1 in Meckwell lite are best, just because opener needs considerable extras to envision a slam. In more than 80% you simply look for the best game. If you just reach a good game fast and without leaking too much information, you will be fine most of the time.

We play that the 1N rebid after 1 - 1 shows 17-19 or 24+ (20-21 -> 2N opening bid, 22-23 -> 2N rebid. After the 1N rebid, we play our 1N structure, slightly adapted: 2 Stayman, 2 -> 5+ , 2 5+ , 2 -> 5+ , 2N Puppet Stayman, 3 (4441) with short .

In the sctual sequence ,opener has denied a 4 card major and 2N is just waiting If opener has 24+ he will bid 4 card minors up the line, with 17-19 he will simply bid 3N

Double will get me a spade lead (we have this agreement), so I will risk it for the biscuit :)

1N in this auction probably was 12-14 but NS should nevertheless reach game or X the opps.

Really? For us, all doubles which are not clearly defined as PEN are takeout. So pass shows a BAL hand or hearts.

I would decide at the table whether I play a spade to the 9 or to the queen, otherwise I completely agree.

Apart from all the true things which have been said: Why didnt East simply pass 2 and looked what happened? I wonder whether south would have passed
