China and Scandinavia don't seem to have any trouble with table numbers. China sent up to 20 teams to various youth championships around the world. Australia has had small increases over the years, but it's not the ACBL, no matter how much money they want to throw away.
Its more about the competing self interest of the Elite players in the USA vs whats available for the youth to do. Its not just Computer games, its also travel, life style, sports and other hobbies that didnt exist or were not accesable to ordinary people 20-100 years ago.

It doesn’t matter to me. I’m forced to be an ACBL member to play the nationals and get. A chunk of points each time. I just know I’ll always be club master no matter how many points I accumulate. Tho it doesn’t matter, as other people have said, I can play all the events any way as I have blue ribbons and status in my own organisation.

As an ACBL member living outside of North America, I can say its silver points that stop us getting LM. I earn plenty of Gold and Plats at the nationals

Turkey overall, exercise a high degree of caution

Pay close attention to your personal security at all times and monitor the media about possible new safety or security risks.

Provinces of Batman, Bingol, Bitlis, Diyarbakir Province, Gaziantep, Hakkari, Hatay, Kilis, Mardin, Sanliurfa, Siirt, Sirnak, Tunceli and Van, reconsider your need to travel

Think seriously about whether you need to travel here due to the high level of risk. If you do travel, do your research and take a range of extra safety precautions, including having contingency plans. Check that your travel insurer will cover you.

Areas within 10 kilometres of the border with Syria, Diyarbakir city, do not travel

We advise against all travel here due to the very high risk. If you do travel, you should typically seek professional security advice. Be aware that regular travel insurance policies will be void and that the Australian Government is unlikely to be able to provide consular assistance.

There has been one airport bombing in Turkey. There has been more deaths in the USA then Turkey in the last 10 years from murders. Just like any city in the world, be careful of your surroundings, dont go to populated tourist spots and you wil be fine. Where the venue is, and the airport close by, there has been little if any terrorist activity in that area.

My Partner and I, who are coming from Australia, are now unfortunately out a few hundred $$ with the change fees/Airbnb fees. Please tell us you have some cheaper accommodation to reduce the pain?

As per Peter Gill comment, Asia Pacific has the great 8 day NZ nationals in October, followed by the Hawaii NABC in November. Orlando is a very long trip from anywhere in Asia/Australia/NZ, and VERY expensive when all our currencies are stuck far lower then the US dollar

Correct Kieran. Australian only has about 10 players playing in Orlando. Most players struggle to even do the 8 hour flights needed to get to Singapore, or 12 hours to China. I am going to Turkey next year, and that will take me 24 hours to reach.
We mainly play in Australia and NZ, and our big events are usually good enough we dont need to roam.

As for Australia, when it was 3 to 1 you had it about right. Don't know why you changed that.
Agree with David though, Masterpoints mean very little in bridge. If a maximum you can earn for a year in Australia is 500 masterpoints, vs thousands in the US. We have 3 tiers of masterpoint, US has 5+. What is the worth of the Gold Coast congress, the largest in the world after the US nationals. Should the winners be given the same status as winners from the Spingold? WBF points vs local points.

The only true comparison is if you could say this player is as good as this player. But who knows both countries experts well enough to do that?

Sounds good. I’m sure we can do it. Which of the 2 events. From what you’re saying, you’re suggesting the NA Swiss teams right

We could, but not every day. Wouldn’t it be 4 matches each session?. But yeah, we can be flexible

I’ve talked to Kitty. Kitty wants to play 2 sessions a day as we traveled a long way to play. We are happy to play an event in the morning, if we play one of the other 2 sessions and either have the night off or afternoon off
