Hello Folks!

John, we are speaking about different Courts (In Italy we have a lot of Courts).

TAR is an amministrative tribunal, not related to bridge or sport and Fantunes filed an appeal to TAR against Italian Federation. They filed several appeals to several different Courts. On July 3rd, 2018 the FIGB Federal Appeal Tribunal acquitted the two players but the TAR appeal was still pending.

There was a meeting of the FIGB boardon 23rd September 2000. Gianarrigo Rona, the FIGB president, spoke about the Italian win in Maastricht and Mr Alfredo Mensitieri (Board Member) proposed the amnesty, and it was agreed unanimously. So the amnesty is due to the Olympic Gold.
