I don't know what the rules are in either location, but when I play in the New York area, everyone rapidly scoops up their bidding cards as soon as, sometimes before the last Pass. When I visited Japan, everyone left their cards on the table until the opening lead. I prefer the Japan way.

I presume the biggest improvement is no longer having to use Adobe Flash, which seems to be on its way out.

If I wasn't going to pass 3NT, I shouldn't have bid 3 the last time.

If I couldn't bid 3 the first time, why can I bid it now?

Sorry for being dense, but what does “the auction period” mean?

I propose the following meta-rule to cover these situations: “First run side suit winners, Then give up side suit losers, Finally play trumps” where the plays in each sub-step can be ordered in the method most favorable to the defense. For NT contracts it would be “First run winners, Then give up losers”.

A tactical bid is when I do it. A psyche is when you do it.

We aren't doubled yet so it's only 50 a trick.

I actually did bid 2 at the table, but all the people I showed this hand to chose to bid 2 first. So … I don't know? The auction goes the same way over 2 (that is (1)-X-2-2-?.)

But if partner wants me to pick a minor and play 5m, why not bid 4NT over 3-X?

Do you use 2NT as a balanced invite then?

If I have 3 to show a non-GF splinter and I don't use it here, when will I ever use it?

Who cares is: If you are a “sport” you get government subsidies (good!) but you have to submit to drug tests and let the CAS decide who is or isn't a cheater (bad!).

What I often do is post a bidding problem with the first bid, and then whatever the majority vote is, I now post a bidding problem with the same hand for the second bid.
