“12 point hands”. Deal randomly until South has >= 12 HCP.

It sounded to me like he was giving you valuable advice about not letting the church get away with screwing you because from the description it sounds like they're on the wrong side of the law.

But if it's empathy you want, then yes, it's very sad. We are all heartbroken about it. We all want to keep playing bridge when this is over and it tears us up if clubs or the ACBL or any other bridge organization goes down.

Could 3 be showing xx support? Did 3 deny six spades?

Call me when they replace “Best Hand” with “Good Hand” (example: hcp>=12) or something that doesn't bias what the three bots' hands are in a freaky way.

Play the 7 on trick 1 and you might get lucky that J is onside and the A drops tripleton?

One of those Ralph Buchalters was the person who actually held this hand at the table! I leave it to the reader to figure out which one.

I imagine the canonical auction is 1-1NT(forcing)-2 and responder has 2=3

Usually the 5-2 fit unless the 4 side has good trumps and the 3 side has useful shortness.

The best use is likely to to replace your weak 2 bids with conventions showing various strong hands that are hard to bid with your regular system.. For example, you could make 2M show the BW hand of death (3M+6m+16-18) and 2D show a strong-2 opener with a diamond suit. 3 level bids to show various GF 5-5 hands. Make up your own.

As mentioned above, I find the frequency of 3 passes times the frequency that 4th hand has something awkward to be so low that the brain strain doesn't seem worth it.

The big difference is we don't know whether Opener has 4 or 5 hearts, so we don't know what to do with 3 card support.

What would you recommend for 4 in that case? A regular “usually singleton” splinter?

That looks like a 5 card spade suit to me.

I'm surprised that nobody wants to make a slam try with extras and a source of tricks.

If you are never down 1 in 3 then playing 2 forcing here is fine.
