Compared to standard time controls in tournament chess, bridge IS quick paced.

No one seems interested in this problem Phil. Weird.

I know that many are excited at the idea of change and seeing a real proposal that has a chance of passing. Perhaps that is why we have seen little discussion regarding the new regions created or other details. I'd rather get the change right than get it done fast. Many people seem to think we should not have board members elected by geographic regions but this plan fully embraces voting by geographical Units.

The plan creates some huge Regions like 1, 9, 10 and 13. Region 10 stretches from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. This makes it even harder for Unit boards to vote for candidates they know. It makes it easier for candidates to manipulate themselves into a Regional Director spot than earn themselves into one.

I am returning an unimaginative seven of spades.

This is why I asked about the initial jump 3. There would need to be a reason for partner to delay ask vs direct ask. Perhaps a side 4-card heart suit? K, AJxx, A, AKQ10xxx.

What would 3 have been over 1?

I'm giving this a bump as I still haven't heard from any possibles for this regional. Anyone know if they will have a pairs game if we don't find teammates?

Marten's book “Workhorse” is one of my favorite bridge books of the last ten years. I'd tear out the page, perhaps send a note to the publisher, and learn from the bridge materiel.

Puerto Vallarta? Remember your passport as I understand the pathway back is riddled with unscalable walls. Have fun in the sun.

I didn't read the series until hearing about it here on bridgewinners. Since deciding to try it, I have red them all and started in on the author that took up the series after the original author's death.

Did anyone here like the show “Jake and the Fatman?”

As you now there are LOTS of possibilities. One just has to prioritize and make agreements. Frequency of gain matters to me and hiding opener's heart suit when I don't need to know about it seems a frequent winner to me.

Playing reverse Flannery I like to play that 1x-1S-1NT 2H is game forcing. This allows partner to not show hearts after 1x-1S-1NT-2D. I think that is valuable especially at mps.

The double is for take out but could contain 15+ balanced as the 1NT is not natural. I only mentioned overcall structure as many that play 1NT for take out play a 15+ “power” double in that system.

I paid to watch the movie on Amazon Video and the streaming quality was good. If you enjoy bridge I'd encourage you to watch the movie. I'll be honest that I enjoyed watching them come to the realization that they were not going to “crush this game” after studying for a year. The ups and downs that they display with the agony of defeat and rush of victory have been felt by all bridge players.

Abstain. 3NT over 3 and I've clarified my hand type as it should show a likely penalty pass. Now I think I have shown a cue in support of spades. Ugh. Could go very badly. 4.

Welcome to Bridgewinners! I really enjoyed your film. I think that the more eyeballs we get on the activity the more new players we'l have a chance to capture. Many people compare bridge to traditional gaming, but your film seemed to show your gaming group as unlikely to continue to play the game. Where do you think bridge players should focus their energy and resources in finding new players for the game? I know you have continued to play. What are your bridge plans in the future? How about your former teammates?
