We've been through this before here. The Nebraska regional is in council bluffs ia because of legalized gambling.

When I was in D14, the only thing I remember is no Regional. At least it seemed so over three years I played heavy schedule at Cornhusker bridge center.

The entire world would be far better off without nation states which are themselves remnants of tribalism. And if that is too political for you please remove it and censure me.

There is also this fallacy floating around that there is some inherent right to own a perfect defense to any conceivable method from the very first time it appears.

Not so and bridge is plenty playable using general principles to solve most problems of unfamiliarity.

Well I guess 150 honors will collect a total of 2320. Eventually.

If partner is opening 2 with 7-6, we can pretty much put 8 honors in her hand. Otherwise don't upgrade that much.

With a 4 LTC hand opposite a 2 opener I am willing to commit to the 6 level right now and so will show my suits in order, space be damned. 's, s, s.

I for one, would vote against more bracketed events. My major problem with KOs is that I am always hopelessly underbracketed and feel like playing in my assigned bracket must mimic what the likes of David G., Boye, Kit and MR feel when I show up at their table.

I want an event where if I earn it, I have earned it against the Open flight. I don't mind strats, but I don't want/need them. Others may measure my accomplishments by points, but some things I know and somethings I don't but I want my efforts measured against the best that any others (aka superstars) can do and not against those who have managed 2K masterpoints one way or another.

@JH: How much did you have to pay somebody to dream that up? <<sarcasm tag>>

There are only two things I cannot stand.

Change.

I don't get it. Multi is just not that impossible to defend against. I don't even think it's difficult to defend against. At all.

And I also happen to be of the opinion that there is no inherent right to have time to discuss defenses to any bid that an OPP may dream up. I do a lot of pre-alerting, maybe more than required, but virtually no one even in a Regional open pairs takes the time to discuss what the difference between 1NT (10-12) and 1NT (15-17) might mean to their defensive approach.

I guess not only at the table, but also on BW. LOL.

Kudos to Michael for putting himself out here to be dissected.

OPs intent, although hardly malicious, is not that pure either. While there is an element of “let me help you learn” in it, there is also an element of “look how much I know (more than you)” in it.

It is this latter element that people find offensive, hurtful and generally not good feeling.

Until the unjustified demands or at least excessively baleful requests for NS cease, NS will always get the sit out in my games.

Next up: Card fees for EW $x, card fees for NS 2.5$x.

Also any pair that has to be at table 4, table 8, table 1, or either of the 2 tables nearest the doors, cards fees 5$x.

Upon reflection, I modify my suggestion (which I think is in the other thread) to:

P 2
3 3
4 4NT . . . 7.

However, for those that are too timid for 2 I submit that my much maligned choice of 2 over 1 in the other thread has the virtue of working this time.

One reason that I started not talking at the table, even under these conditions, is that I am not that comfortable with my “on the fly” analytical abilities. I need BW to tell me how wrong I am before I start spouting off about what the auction or play should have been. I have also said to OPPs that bridge is so hard that I doubt that anyone can fully analyze any hand in the 5 seconds before someone starts spouting off about what should have been done.

Better to keep quiet and let them think I'm stupid than to talk and confirm their suspicions.
