She is not saying v that JR should say it here. Just that he's should say it to his subscribers. Somewhere.

Well I passed. And the auction was P (P) 3 (4) and now P! and then (5) passed back to me. I could find nothing better than P now.

Wait 4 years for a 6-6 in the MAJs and then get shut out of the auction.

I led the A, dummy dropped five spades Kxxxx and partner discarded. I gave partner his ruff. He then cashes the A. Gives me a ruff . . . except I discard a instead of ruffing. His A is our 4th trick.

1 pair made 4s and we had the only other +.

I am a 4SF to game kind of guy, so these are both passable. But neither should be passed often. Cycling through 1 on the way to raising s suggests extra strength and particularly on the first auction(2s), it's hard to see where partner could pass.

Still, I voted that she can.

Be glad you don't play poker . . . there the assumption is that when a player quits, the translation = “I lost.”

A = 13, K = 9, Q=5, J = 2. Then start adding for combined honors, Ts and 9s. And subtracting for honors in short suits (stranded honors). You should get a number which, when divided by 3 approximately = the Work Count value of the hand. So 15 with no remained is a bad 15, 15 remainder 1 is an average 15 and 15 remainder 2 is a good 15. Etc.

I am not sure how to respond to OPPs queries but my partner seemed to do well yesterday (regarding a 1NT overcall: “a beefy 14 up to a bad 18”).

Yu . . . I think re-sent should be hyphenated. ;-)

MSC contributor and editor, Danny Kleinman is my local LA area resident expert on SOFA (Standard Old Fashioned American) Bidding. Since the first book on bridge I ever read was Sontag's Power Precision my basic bidding comprehension has . . . let's say a few holes.

This is not a fair use issue. (Although recent SCOTUS cases threaten to have fair use swallow up the whole of copyright law) And Yehudit is right that copyright covers re-distribution, not personal storage.

IMO as a generalist lawyer who only dabbles in copyright.

Also, there is perhaps more precedent on internet copyright than on off-line. Or maybe it just seems that way today.

In MPs there is a fair justification for having more tools to battle for the part score. I don't see the risk/reward at IMPs. And, for that matter, with most partners, the gains from passing outweigh the gains from bidding even at MPs.

When I was young, I bid a lot with weak balanced hands. Now I wait for distribution.

Anyone can make a specific bequest in a will . . . in annual installments or otherwise. If a will is not applicable, then perhaps “leave” is not the right verb.

Responsible does not equate to “punishable by death.”

However, the term undiscussed is one that every duplicate player should learn and use.

TBW and its contributors should partner with some media saavy person to stream VuGraphs of NABC events on YouTube or otherwise. Live. Doesn't all have to be overhead shots of 4 guys at a table. A good graphics person could design some pretty snazzy animation to show in RT (or virtually RT) the effects of various choices. Etc.

But the comment that the printed page is dead . . . true. Not just BW, but the Bulletin, and the LA Times, and Playboy even. Not one is thriving.

If you want to save TBW, make its content facebookable.

I would pay for a separate MSC. Too many issues just went unopened here. BBO swallowed up time that might otherwise have gone to reading and study.

Well, speculative or not, he has something of a point about more experienced players trying to take advantage of less knowledgeable players.

I also have a mental list of players who are prone to “playing the rules” not the game. Let's just say that appearing on this list may affect my ruling in close or fact disputed cases.

Seems to me that Law 40B6(a) then requires some effort be made to discern and disclose whether partnership experience has any bearing on this particular call.

Why is opening a balanced 11 count attractive under any conditions?

I have suggested several times, “No Bar-b-que potato chips.” But people do tell me that I am too sensitive to marked cards since I came back from poker.

It's MPs, not IMPs. PASS. idk, Josh . . . I usually look for your name first in the who voted how screen, but really hate bidding on here.
