Thanks for weighing in Bob. I wish more people could see the precarious future of our game. We need to implement change now.

The average age of ACBL members continues to rise, already well into the 70's. We need to make serious changes in policy to improve the health of ACBL. We need publicity, marketing, etc. The failures in these areas and others have put ACBL in a precarious position. DO THE RIGHT THING BOD.

If you look at the last 20 years, a change is needed. Smaller board will help streamline the implementation of new and good ideas to help grow our organization and bring in younger players.

@Mike

Better late then never. It is a long overdue start to help improve the future of our game.

Reduction of the BOD is a must IMO. The evidence from the past 20 years proves we have too many cooks in the kitchen. I see this proposal as a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully the BOD will put the future of our game ahead of personal interests.

Anyone that wants to play in the top bracket is welcome IMO. Some of our inexperienced players want to try playing with the top players and should be allowed to do so.

I find it surprising this rule change came from a single request. I wish my requests were taken as seriously. Hopefully this will be quickly revisited and corrected.

Thanks for posting this George. I guess I could have been collecting checks for all of these trials! I had no idea. I am available for the senior trials everyone!

To me it is clear, once you have qualified for 1 event, you should NOT be allowed to play in ANY other trials to affect the outcome or better one's position. WTF were they thinking to allow this?

Thanks for this reminder Sabine!

The prospect of playing against these individuals was a major factor in my decision not to compete in Istanbul. Tournament organizers need to understand these criminals poison any event they are allowed to compete in. I want no part of any bridge game where these crooks are allowed to play. #SayNoToCheats

F-N were the most egregious cheaters the bridge world has ever seen. A bogus ruling from CAS does not change this fact. They are a cancer in our game and must be removed else the future of bridge is in jeopardy.

Congrats to the Wolfson team. They were deserving champions. It was a great match with fabulous chemistry and sportsmanship exhibited by all. The way bridge should be played.

I most certainly NEVER testified on behalf of this person. I find it offensive for him to use my name in any regard, especially regarding some pretense of innocence.

This is outrageous IMO. Does A&C really believe this individual has been rehabilitated? It was noted there had been no incidents reported by the Italian bridge federation. Remember, when Fantoni returned to the Italian pairs championship recently, he was welcomed back with hundreds of likes on social media.

This decision is misguided, the serial killer analogy is accurate. Perhaps it is time for new leadership when this appears to be justified by technicalities.

Mike, Thanks for pointing out the Steinberg post from Dec.7. I had missed that and it is closely related to this thread.

What is going on in our game? Hundreds of top players have started a campaign this year, #SAY NO TO CHEATS. Marion M. posted an article here a few months back under the same heading when we heard that Fantoni had resurfaced.

To allow these players back into bridge is an atrocity with holocaust like ramifications for high level bridge. At the moment, Fantoni can't play here in ACBL but will he be competing in European events I like to attend? What about World Championships?

If the cars are back, I have little faith in the people who make these decisions going forward to do what is CLEARY in the best interest of the health of our game. SAD!

I completely agree with Bobby It is beyond shameful. How can this be? Has the ACBL lost their minds? Is there no integrity left in our game?

Anyone that thinks these types of individuals are rehabilitated are living in fantasy land.
Take Steve Sion for instance, didn't it take a 3rd offense for him to finally be expelled.

Clearly no one has listened to the hundreds of top players who have tried to promote the #SAY NO TO CHEATS.

This is unbelievable! How can they possibly allow the worst criminals in bridge history back into tournament play. Thank you Marion for bringing this into the light. I will certainly join my fellow bridge players in boycotting any tournament they are allowed to play in.

@ Gavin. You are wrong. Rodwell and I played in the qualifier with our wives and we won all 4 matches.

Hey John,
Keep up the great work!
As 1 individual, you are doing more to promote bridge than the entire ACBL is. SAD but true.

Hi Jay,

Keep up the good work. IMO bridge needs publicity in order to grow membership. I am still upset that ACBL failed to capitalize on Bill Gates winning a national championship in Kansas City. I am concerned for the future of bridge here in the US because we are not bringing in enough young players.
