A Q 9
Q 9
A Q 9 3

when defense didn't playback a . Harrison squeezed them to make 5, tying for top.

All I've gotten (no names yet) so far is the comment, “I think you have software updates to do :)”

When I read the headline, I was sure this was a post from Thailand or other foreign country.

Partner actually had a trap pass, but plays that double would be takeout. Thus my followup poll today (what his double would mean to you)

I was at the game, and the Director asked me what I'd bid with the N hand if partner passed in tempo (though I'm not a peer of North, “experienced Flight B”). I would have passed. I believe she rolled the contract back to 2S.

My name is actually Donald.
When declaring, my partners used to delight when telling me to play low, “Donald, duck.”
Now they like me to ruff with “Donald, trump.”

(Also, I was “the Donald” before he was.)

As a non-profit, does NEYB accept tax-deductable contributions?

At our table, this hand opened 2C, of course. My partner bid 2N (Suction), and it continued:
Dlr 2d 3d 4th
2C 2N* X** 3C
3D P 5D** P
6D ALL P
* C or D + H
** Weak
With dummy holding K X X of D and nothing else, declarer correctly guessed LHO had J X of trump to make the slam.

I was the one who opened 2S. After 2 passes, this player bid 4N. She meant it as minors, and her partner took it as Ace-Asking. He bid 5D, +440.
I would have bid 4S with this hand.

We were Jeff's teammates, and “victims” of the ruling.
Our auction:
W N E S
P P 1S 2H
3S 4H 4S
ALL P
(3S was invitational)
No problem making it (DF agrees), though S did “panic” and lay down A of C when in.
I just won H lead, stripped majors, and played S for J of D.

Len: We played at Franks Contract Bridge Studio 4/20/76, finishing second. (I wondered where you were the next 39years)

Why are there links to YouTube videos (“Indiana Jones” and “paper shredding”)? I have a YouTube channel too, but I would never include a link on a bridge discussion (and this is not Recorder-worthy).

I suggest reading “Fair Play or Foul? Cheating Scandals in Bridge” (9780908065455) by Cathy Chua, a definitive work on this topic. She suggests two types of bridge players, one of whom might be misunderstood as a “cheater.”

“Since when does X guarantee 4 hearts?”
-Since we started playing together 36 years ago.

“how is partner supposed to know you have 4 hearts and 8 clubs if you bid 4♥ and then 5♣?”

-This shows exactly 4 H and 5+ C.

My partner (S) passed, and when W bid 1D, I doubled, followed by 1S by E, then 4H by partner. Over 4S S can now bid 5C.

Deep Finesse has EW making 10 tricks in D or H, NS 6 tricks at most in S. We (NS) bid 4S, and went plus vs. 5H.
