I already found one. Don't know if I can find out if partner holds xxxx and <2 hearts.

Lynn, I'd like to hear your reasoning behind the 3 bid. A psych?

Isn't 4NT opener asking for specific aces standard?

I think that's good reasoning but a lot of people on here would say that it just shows a good 5 bagger with diamond support. BTW, I was just being a smart-ass when I said that I didn't realize that's what 2 showed.

I think this hand is definitely too good for 1NT. I don't mind 1NT on off-shape hands but not this good.

6, but it would really depend on my opponents.

I agree with 4 because all of my cards are working but drury w/o the Q is a little much.

David, with that hand just bid 3 directly over 2 setting trump. You don't really care whether partner thinks you have solid hearts since you plan to RKC next. Of course that loses when partner is void in hearts but so does practically any other approach.

Sounds reasonable but what would 4 directly over 1 be?

The given hand is +2800 in 1NTXX. That's not too bad vs 1430 and if someone pulls then 3 would indeed be forcing and slammish. What more can you say for a bid than that it works in all situations?

I bid 4 but I didn't realize that's what 2 showed. I would probably have opened that 1.

Double implies more spades than 2.

Most of the time you will get some “feel” for whether rho is bidding for a make or preempting. It would have to be a pretty strong signal for me to decline the insurance, especially if I think I'm ahead in the match.

I also voted for double as “least of evils”.
