There is also no way for him to tell if club values are wasted. That is why I prefer Texas, why leave it up to partner if we can make the decision ourselves? Inviting is just transferring the blame. Besides, they made misdefend or partner may play it well or it just may be laydown. I am really surprised that there are only 8 abstentions so far.

3NT at matchpoints, 4 otherwise. Bidding a round suit should show diamonds but also doubt about the other suit for NT.

The only reason I can see is it gives LHO the opportunity to double to find their fit, but I bid it anyway. Just too good to bid 4.

Put the pressure where it belongs, this is not a hand for science.

3-4 tricks for pd is worth a 3 card LR.

Some play that way but I think most play GF after any rebid other than 2NT. But I could be wrong…

I can visualize hands where we might not make 5.

That's obviously an option but I think there is still the possibility of game, which partner may be happy to bid if given the chance.

Then I would double confirming 3 spades and bid diamonds again later if the opportunity arises. If it only promised 4 spades I would rebid diamonds and hide the 3(?) card support.

Is partner showing 5 spades? If not I would probably bid 3.

I don't want to pass at matchpoints with only 3 cards in the majors and a weak 2 with 2QT is usually not recommended so that leaves 1. I'm really not too worried about getting overboard.

That may be due to your Acol background.
