I'm bidding 2 expecting partner to correct to s if that's his hand. I didn't read the link so maybe I'm wrong but if I really had a good suit I could have bid it instead of 2.

4 seems like an overbid since I'm not even sure of game. 4 looks like the Goldilocks bid. Pass would show a balanced minimum.

We don't have a game so why bid now? I suspect partner has 5 s and if he bids 2 I will compete to 3. If he bids 1 I may compete to the 2 level. He will never have 5 s. BTW, if he passes the XX, it will be the last time he ever does it with me.

Phillip, the 3 bid might well be trying to get partner to bid 3NT with a heart stopper but it might also be, as it was in this case, a hand with slam interest, too good to bid 3NT.

Pass is best but the 1 call is part of the conditions so I accept it.

Why is that 7510 hand so far-fetched for this auction? Do you expect everyone to be balanced?

I assume 2NT is a “cue”.

At the risk of sounding stupid, what does double show? Is it takeout, DSIP, card showing? What does it show in s?

I thought the catch was partner had xxx xx xxxxx xxx but didn't see how find out. Just make the obvious 4 bid.

I hate to comment on my own problem but I just don't understand the 3 and 3NT bids. Why give a preference to s with xxx? That can't possibly help partner decide where to place the contract but at least it keeps the bidding open. 3NT with 2 aces and a 1-loser suit is incomprehensible. I can't dream up a hand for this bidding where slam isn't at least 95%.

Whether 3 is forcing is a matter of agreement but it doesn't matter here because I know where I want to play so I am bidding it.
