I don't understand the Roth-Stone reference, it does not apply to this auction. One spade is forcing as long as you had your 1♦ bid, which you did. A weak 2♦ response is a possibility but probably shouldn't have an ace.

Since when is a hand with 4 tricks for partner a preemptive raise? That hand is a limit raise and might make a game opposite a minimum opener.
