This is the 2nd reference here to a 5 bid which I don't agree with. Doesn't 5 ask for trump quality in this auction? Is partner really going to think that Kxxx is enough? And why would 4 be last train instead of 4?

Would have bid 2 instead of 2.

Chuck, most people would just overcall 1 with that hand. It is only a 6 loser hand at best. But I see your point about some of my cards my not be all that good. Still, I don't have to play it.

All my cards are working so I owe it to partner to bid game.

I didn't think pass was an option since all of the 7-bids implied pass. Whoever chose simply pass was just copping out.

It shows cards in spades…now 3 probably denies a control

Then why not just bid 3 now?

I would like to know what the 2NT bidders plan to do over 3NT by partner.

So we are reversing into a singleton? Now partner knows exactly what we hold. I would buy reversing into 2 with hand but not s.

I had forgotten about the wk NT comment but it wouldn't make any difference since I would always rebid 3 but I've never played Acol so what do I know?

I bid 4 as I thought dbl would deny 4 s but I see the point now. Dbl then return to s shows doubt. At least I think I get it. Would one of the doublers confirm or deny? I'm returning to the game after a 20 year layoff and, to say the least, things have changed.

1st thought was 3NT and maybe that's right but there are lots of ways for it to go wrong. At least 1NT gives me some fallback positions.
