Me too, but I would be in the same place if the bidding had continued the same. I'm bidding now just in case partner has spades.

Did I somehow slip into another dimension?

“ 16 can rebid 2♣ confident that 10 HCP will take a second bid.”
IMO a 2 rebid would say “I heard your 1NT call and I think 2 is the right spot.”

The 18-19 point hand is out of the question, partner would bid 3NT with that hand.

I don't think it's all that obvious, if 3NT is a laydown then why didn't partner bid it? As I said above, there are lots of hands partner can have, all of them unbalanced with clubs.

How can it be a signoff? I will admit that it is a suggestion to play 3 but you have already shown 8-10 with a stop and now you are showing good club support. There are many hands that partner can have on this bidding so he can certainly take another call if he feels it is justified.

Gregory, if I understood what you said I might take offense, but I rarely do.

Since I'm going to take the save over 4 I will do it now.

If you don't make a mixed raise with this hand, when would you ever make one?

Did your partner double with this?

It may be annoying to your partner when you go for 800 opposite air. I wouldn't even try that at MP's when it's only one board.

Maybe the 1NT bidders are just showing shape but where I come from that shows a semblance of a diamond stop. The only reason to take another bid is in case you might have a game so why would you want to invite 3NT, and from the wrong side?

That would have been important to know since I play it as signoff.

For me, 4 would be non-leaping michaels so I am left with pass, dbl or 5.

I need to know what kind of suit is promised by 2, a lot of treatments exist for suit length for a 2/1 response.

I don't think the hand and/or the club suit is good enough for a game forcing 3.
