Did he say what he would do with this hand?

Is partner showing 5 spades? If not I would probably bid 3.

I don't want to pass at matchpoints with only 3 cards in the majors and a weak 2 with 2QT is usually not recommended so that leaves 1. I'm really not too worried about getting overboard.

That may be due to your Acol background.

Agree, that's exactly why 2 should have some special meaning, unless opening 2 is something other than a std wk2. I don't like 2-way drury for lots of reasons so I have played 2 as an artificial GF raise opposite a PH.

2, I can safely pass anything partner bids.

Pass unless you have an agreement that 5 is forcing. I hate obscure cue bids.

This looks like a hand that deserves a tricky bid but I can't think of one that won't get me into trouble.

I considered that but don't you give up on ever showing the spade suit? A 3 rebid over 3 shows only 4 spades. I'm sure you could come up with some way to show 53 but not without discussion.

I don't play big club but, even with support doubles, I doubt that T63 qualifies.

2, looking for a super-accept. Over 2 will bid 3NT.

I don't think that fact would change anyone's bid, not mine anyway. What percentage of the time would a 1 overcaller have only a 4 card suit? Get in the fast lane!

Probably right, maybe WDMPMTSB (Why Did My Partner Make That Stupid Bid?) would be better.

Why would you say that?

With only one bid coming it seems like double comes closer to describing this hand a 1 overcall.
