Bayonne is right, we are on our “umpteenth” Tasl Force and ZERO have had a large club owner on any of those panels.

Mamula, do not read what I write? In my Unit they have an illegal prohibition against a club owner on the Unit BOD. It was from long before my time. If a for profit club owner runs, the “volunteers” gather up the posse to oppose the candidate. If it was easy for a club owner to be on the BOD, Bayonne would be on the Board.

I add District 5 Brian Ellis and District 25 Bob Bertoni to the list of no votes. I think the motion failed by 2 votes, not 1.

Want to complicate matters? There is a “free Canada” movement, which would remove 2 entire and parts of 2 other districts (am I right?) by forming the “Canadian Contract Bridge League!” Ai, yi,yi! I have no idea, but did all districts with Canadian members vote no? Please research? D1 and D2 voted no.

Some details: The “sweetener” of the 3 year extension for a BOD member was eliminated by amedment prior to vote.

Reasons for voting “no” included an expression that while it was the best proposal they had ever seen (post “sweetener” removal), more time was needed prior to reduction to offload duties from the BOD. The successful offload of MP to the MP committee and effective offload to Conventions and Competition were sighted as a model for such things as NABC Review and honorary service awards.

A second reason for voting no was that small groups of BOD mbers had historically made poor decisions, I guess this was in reference to the small size of the “Gang of 6.”

Optimism was expressed that post offload of BOD duties, this motion will pass.

Another task force will be appointed, apparently.

With apologies in advance for any errors and a commitment to “make it right”:

Known no votes: District 1 Leo Weinwger, District 2 Paul Janicki, District 3 Carlos Munoz, District 13 Suzi Subeck, District 17 Bonnie Bagley, District 18 Claire Jones, District 21 Jackie Zayac, District 23 Kevin Lane. i am missing any? Liberal arts major, math not my long suit. (Amended to add District 5 Brian Ellis
and Distrct 25 Bob Bertoni.)

If I listed you as a no vote, and you voted yes, please let me know so I can correct the record.

Carl, its the 21st Century, 4 trump get to the 3 level. To quote Hampson, a mixed raise is more important than preemptive and as valuable as limit. The auction needs “lift” to steal room from opponents.

I am a little lost , Randy. After 45 years of family owned Bridge Clubs, ii am aware that first year members don’t go to tournaments. I want a lartger recruitment incentive for early years — because of known retention issues.

No team guaranteed 15-25 MP by qualifying and getting drilled the next day will dump. If they qualify and lose two matches the second say, they are fourth overall

Way over stated the laxness of the ACBL regarding club oversight. Try to run a special masterpoint game at a club during a sectional run by an adjoining unit (not even your own). You will then be told taht your competitor can do so because they are 26 miles from the tournament but you are barred because the club you own is 24 miles from the other unit’s sectional — we ran afoul of a 25 mile radius rule.
