I thought one was not allowed to “hear” the failure to alert and bid as if partner did alert. In that case four spades seems fine. With screens he wouldn't know about the alert fail. Am I thinking about this correctly?

That would be fun. I've always loved bridge world for that reason…master solvers club….I can't imagine someone making that bid…Kit Woolsey or similar caliber…seems like x bid is obvious :)

Thank you for your thoughtful answer Roger. It just occurred to me that I was curious about playing standard attitude on partner's A for AK lead. I thought I read somewhere that some UDCA partners play standard attitude in this specidic situation at trick one…..In any event, I think you answered my question anyway :)
