If a “rich guy” funded a beautiful symphony I would love it. Is that a bad thing?

His hesitation was “thinking” he was off two keys. After the auction he slapped his forehead and shook his head. I think it was just one of those bridge brain freeze moments that happened at an unusual time. The player is good.

It seems that North had brain lock similar to miscounting trumps? He had J10x KQ10 A8752 J4

North thought partner showed three keycards so signed off missing two.

Thank you for your responses. I almost didn't post this situation except that it was so odd. As you put it, “impossible from a bridge perspective”.

The longer I hesitated the more I panicked. :)

Quirk's partner overreacted. Quirks aren't rage worthy, just eye roll worthy.

I think C.S. Lewis said that hell is locked from the inside.

“I do feel the pair in question SHOULD…..” Should seems to imply ethics? Is your point about obligation?

This is a bit off topic. Partner was somewhat concerned when I went down 1400 in, what I thought was, a reasonable 3 heart preempt. I must have played it better because minus 1700 at other table. Lesson I usually fail…. don't react to results. Lesson number two…. our teammates defended better. I keep forgetting we have teammates :)

Kibitzed a Vanderbilt match years ago. 170, 170 push…..multi 2d opening both tables. Responder with 17 points, great diamonds and heart void passed. The other respender was disciplined and bid 2 hearts making 4.

North probably bid 1NT with 4 spades, I think that is the modern approach?
