No, if this law stands, and the ACBL insists on keeping headquarters in Missisippi, members hitting them in the pocketbook may persuade them otherwise.

If this law is not overturned and ACBL stays in Mississippi, perhaps a boycott by members refusing to renew will make them think otherwise.

A simple summation is all that is needed. You get caught cheating, you should be gone for life. No discussion, no circumstances, no nothing. Gone, goodbye, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Yes, there is. But only bidding 2D on this hand is ridiculous.

Would you rather get passed possibly in 2D? Get real.

I abstained because I know what works, from the person who gave me this hand…but don't you think it's VERY likely that West has five spades (at least)?

With, of course, a duplicate game afterwards, where everyone must play MICS :).

To the folks bidding 4H, isn't this a slam try?

I've been bugging them about this for several years–it is the one reason I don't subscribe (the lack of an electronic edition). They supposedly have one under work now.

Is this application of double GCC legal?

Someone gave me the hand and asked me to put it up, so I did. Giving the circumstances as they were described to me.

I am told that on the auction South intended it to be RKC, so North's responses are correct.

Nope, the partnership agreement is that we play SAB only after a 1NT response to 1C. Would have made life much easier if we had been playing them.

My personal feeling is that this should be rolled back, and if I'm sitting West on this auction after the BIT I pass and when I see partner's hand I chew partner out for putting me in this position with a 20-second BIT when he had NOTHING to think about.

Around 25 years ago, I was playing in the local Flight B District Final of the Grand National Pairs. My partner and I were at the time decent Flight C players, nothing more. At the time, I was observantly Jewish, and my partner…let's just say she knew very little about it.

We had a decent game in the afternoon, about 57 percent. And then, in the second session, we proceed to have a MONSTER. Everything was rolling our way.

We finished the tenth round early, and I went to make a phone call to arrange my ride home. As I'm getting up, my partner asks me where I'm going, and I flippantly reply “I'm going to make our flight reservations for (wherever the next Nationals was being held).”

Our next six boards were 0, 0, .5, 0, 1.5, 0. And after that, we missed what at the time was a free trip…by 1/2 matchpoint.

After the final scores were posted, as I'm sitting at a table with my head in my hand, my partner comes up to me and asks “Was this what they call a kina hurra?”

Oh yep. It's one of those “Oh, yeah, THIS is why we play this stuff” moments.
