It's not disrespectful to say that someone found to have cheated should be banned for life. It's protective of the game itself, which should be everyone's first priority.

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one.”

The verdict has already been passed, remember?

He was found guilty. For what he was found guilty of, his punishment is not an execution, it is a joke and a stain upon the game.

It's not possible to cause damage out of proportion to what he did.

The “nature of the infraction”? Read the paragraph again. If that isn't cheating, I don't know what is.

I don't care if he predetermined one card, or all 52. He cheated, he should be gone for life.

He was convicted of cheating. That's all we need to know. You get convicted of cheating, you should be banned for life.

I'm glad you think it's a joke. Some of us don't take cheating that lightly.

There are some actions that are so grave, that do SO much damage to our game, that there should be no forgiveness, no redemption. Cheating is one of them. Goodbye, good riddance, don't let the door hit them in the ass on the way out. I don't care who it is, or what the level. You cheat in an ACBL-sanctioned event, you get caught, goodbye.

The travesty is in NOT hanging him (so to speak) or any other cheater publically. You cheat, you get caught, you should be GONE.

How much more definitive fact do we need? The pronouncement in the Bulletin speaks for itself. The fact that a cheat–in ANY way–is allowed to still play is a stain upon our game. FAR greater, than say, convention disruption.

Not for cheating, no, they should not.

People have been banned in other sports where they are independent contractors, i.e. track and field for one example.

Mike Passell deserves no sympathy, sorry. He got a gift with this joke of a suspension. In a world where the powers that be gave a **** about the image of the game Mike Passell would NEVER PLAY IN AN ACBL-SANCTIONED EVENT AGAIN.

It most certainly can take away his right to earn a living playing bridge. See those in other sports and pursuits who have been banned for life for offenses.

What facts have to come out? He prearranged a deal. He cheated. He should be banned for life. PERIOD.

It's easy to say because I'd never cheat at the table. I don't care WHO he is. What he did should be a lifetime ban. Goodbye, good riddance, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

To hell with that. When you cheat, you should forfeit your right to earn a living playing in ACBL events. If that hits him in the pocket, tough. Should have thought of that before he did it.

Prearranging a deal? He should be banned for life, sorry. This punishment is a joke.
