The question is what does 1 Heart show. If it shows 4, but occasionally you believe the best way to bid your hand is to represent 4 hearts then there is no problem. If you play responding 1 heart partner will play you for 3, then that is an illegal agreement. The judgement about the specific hand is irrelevant.

Al,first of all, the executive committee dealing with these issues is a very positive step. I look forward to better tournaments in the future. As far as not commenting, if you are part of the executive committee and someone posts on the wbf's behalf then unless you comment it is your statement.

If the wbf wants to be consistent, if you are female they would make you choose between taking an open slot or a womens slot in a mixed event. If a ope then you must play with a female partner. Then awarding open mp's for open slots and womens for womens would make sense. The problem with the whole thing is that mixed and womens events are sexist by definition. I dont have a problem with them if people want them, but you can not make them fair.

I have played with many flight c players. In my experience 3d means I want to play 3d. It may be unwise but that is what it means.

The dummy had too many points. 15 i think. But she was very weak and probably never bid 7 in her life. Opening leader had king fifth of hearts and out.

Not a flight a event. I can understand ruling against the pick up partnership. Maybe the director found the facts to be different. I hate changing the finding of fact away from the table and really hate two way good. But it may very well have been an attempt to make everyone happy, not intimidation.

I do think some people overuse the break, esoecially if the bid would never be made with correct information but there always must be some limit. And people will make mistakes.

Committees and directors have to make judgements all the time. Some you wont agree with. But they can not blindly accept someone's statement it was the mi that made me do it.
They will make mistakes but that is life.

In the ACBL there is no requirement for the cue bid (but an unusual notrump must be 54) I agree with michael that if asked not saying may be 4-4 or even may be 5-4 is awful.

I will just say one thing. I can not believe 4d is forcing. What do you bid with xx,x kj10xxxx, aqx. I would need to see notes before i would evem consider this argument.

There are two separate infractions in most jurisdictions. Ns did not alert in a way that east understood and ew used the alert procedure. I cant rule without all four hands but it might be 2 oe 3 clubs by ew or 2 or 3 hearts by ns. Never 2 hearts by ew unless in a jurisdiction where you are not responsible for having your alerts heard.

It is a question of fact I would not rule that eight or nine inches what is touching the table or nearly touching but if it was maintained in that position I would rule it a played card

Boye, you started something that needed to be done. I appreciate the effort put in. I may have doe some things in a different fashion, but would never criticize the people who have put in the effort to clean up our game. Thank you.

I believe if you are going to write it is better to go to your acbl district director. They control the appointment to the wbf executive council

Much more easily said then done. In order for it to succeed all of the nbos and the wbf would have to give it power over professional bridge. You would also need a way to force people to join. I am afraid it would just become another political bureaucracy. In theory a good idea but very hard to do in practice.

If there was this amount of evidence i would not need the wbf ebl or acbl to make decision. I would do what is right
