The oppos play 2/1. Everyone at the table has played for their country, although that hasn't been completely obvious from the play on earlier boards. Everything has been more or less in tempo so far; maybe East had a slight hitch before passing the X. EW aren't a regular partnership and aren't sure how strong the splinter should be. Their card says UDCA, K lead asks for count.

After West's start of cashing K, K and then tapping the board, you can combine some chances in and if are 2-1. Pulling a trump now won't get in the way of whatever you have to do next if they're 3-0. You pull J and win A as East not-unexpectedly ditches a .

(reminder: following from the first few comments - the full play so far was and is available by clicking Next on the hand diagram)

Now what?

You could draw trumps and rely on bringing home. If you go down this path, you will have a choice of plays in the suit if West produces the 10 under the AK

You could instead take the ruffing finesse. If that works, you (eventually) ruff out the A, ruff a to hand and pump 's through West as surrogate trumps and/or handy tricks along the way.

Either approach could go 2 off on some layouts although the oppos would be making 4 for sure and maybe even 5 if that happened.

If you make your contract you win a superbly named national championship. If you go down you get overtaken with a couple of boards to go, so no pressure.

What's your poison?

Draw trumps, ruffing finesse if West produces the 10
Draw trumps, play for to drop
Take the ruffing finesse and then use the 's as trumps
