Here's a defensive situation that came up today. I was playing with Eddie Wold. This week is the first time we've played, so we don't have much in the way of agreements. We play upside-down carding and lead 3rd/low against suits. Our primary signal is attitude.
East deals and opens a 14-16 1NT. South overcalls 2♠, showing spades and a minor, and everyone passes.
As West, you lead a low heart (would you?). Declarer goes up with dummy's ♥A.
How would you interpret partner's signal on this trick? If attitude, what message does a positive signal send?
