TD Corner: Some movements for small clubs (ACBLScore) - 6T 7T 12T

ACBLScore has a somehow limited choice of movements. As I start to get used to it, and in order to be prepared for anything between 6 and any higher number of tables, I prepared a "shopping list" for movements (and MOV files) where pairs played all or most of the boards (nothing like 33 boards in circulation and 24 played...)

General requirements:

  • Pairs would not miss more than one set of boards.
  • 2 or 3 boards per round.
  • Not less than 24, not more than 27, even with a phantom pair in circulation.

So, I figured that I would need:

A six-table Howell with 8x3 boards that could easily be expanded to 9x3 boards (so that if I have a half table I can guarantee that everybody plays 24 boards), and a provision for a one-pair or one-table appendix to care for late arrivals.

Seven-table extended Mitchells (8 rounds of 3 boards, and 9 rounds of 3 boards). This is achieved with respectively 8 or 9 moving pairs (there are no pair repetitions)

An eight table Mitchell with 8 sets, 8 rounds without share and relay. ACBLScore has this one in its initial set of movements, it´s called a Criss Cross or Double Weave Mitchell.

Movements for 10 and 11 tables, 8 or 9 rounds. These I could shop as Web movements from the excellent work of Tim Hill:

A movement for 12 tables, 12 sets, 12 rounds, no share and relay. This is like the 8-table Criss-Cross, but ACBLScore doesn´t include it.

For 14 to 17 tables, there are Web options with 12 or 13 rounds available (see Tim Hill´s article)

As I couldn´t fill my "shopping cart" with all that was on my list, with exactly the specs that I wanted, I ended up creating table mats and MOV files for:

- 6T 8R, Reduced Howell, also with half- and one-table appendix

- 6T 9R, Reduced Howell, also with half- and one-table appendix

- 7T 8R Extended Mitchell

- 7T 9R Extended Mitchell

- 12T 12R Criss Cross Mitchell (no table mats)

I will add some other items, in the near future, like a 10 or 11 table movement with 12 rounds (extended mitchell), to avoid having to duplicate the extra set for the web movement.

Anyway, as these MOV files might be useful for clubs with similar specs, if someone is interested in any of them, PM me
