Reevaluating GLM-Eligible Events

Here are all the events that are eligible for GLM status http://web2.acbl.org/coc/AppendixM.pdf

Pairs: Platinum Pairs, Blue Ribbon Pairs, Von Zedtwitz/Nail LM Pairs, Wernher/Silodor Pairs, IMP Pairs, Fast Pairs, Smith/Whitehead/Wagar Women Pairs, Mixed Pairs, Silver Ribbon Pairs, Senior Mixed Pairs, NAP Flight A

Swiss/BAM: Reisinger, NA Swiss, Roth/Jacoby Open Swiss, Mitchell Open BAM, Freeman Mixed BAM,, Mixed Swiss, Senior Swiss

KOs: Vanderbilt, Spingold, Soloway Senior KO, GNT Championship Flight

For those who think there's a proliferation of these events, perhaps the issue boils down into the following:

1. While all of these events are open from a Masterpoint perspective, some of them are restricted from an age/gender perspective.

2. Some of these events are going on while "bigger" events are going on and the field isn't as great as what a field should be that warrants GLM status. Yes, the field could change on a yearly basis based on who exactly gets knocked out of the bigger events, but we have a general idea of what to expect. This mainly applies to just pair events as most of the Swiss events are on the last weekend when you still get a ton of good players who were KO'ed.

It'd be an exercise to write out each and every event in the poll, so I'll just keep some more generalized answers there. Specific events can be discussed in the comments.

Please select up to 4 choices.
