Pros and Cons of Having Committees in Your Club Games

My practice when making a subjective ruling or when ruling on a law which a player thinks I've interpreted incorrectly, is to make the ruling I consider correct. I then consult with three other directors to decide whether or not a good committee would have overruled my ruling.

My intention has been to keep the atmosphere friendly and to not have players ruling against or for other players. As a result, I do not have committees. And a couple of very good players, including a retired national director, have objected strongly to this policy.

Do any of you run your games this way?

And what do you consider the best approach to this situation in a club game?
