We bid 6 on the auction above. 2NT showed a limit raise with 4+ trump or a forcing raise with 3+ trump. 3 showed a minimum. 3 showed a game force and asked. 4 showed no shortness and the rest was RKC.

The opening lead was the 8 of, top of nothing or 4th best. Partner won the ace and played heart to the king, low heart.  West followed low twice, East followed low once. How would you play from there?

If West started with Qxx or Jxx you are very likely to make on a throw-in by going up with the ace. Of course you are down if West started with QJxx. And if East started with QJx you will probably need the club finesse.

If you decide to stick in the 10 instead and it holds, you are very likely to make on the same throw-in. If the 10 loses East might not find the club shift. If he doesn't you have some extra chances.
