You are E and lead your systematic low spade. Partner is excellent, but you did not discuss your defensive agreements in depth. You play 3rd/5th leads, UDCA, default signal is attitude and there was a vague mention of obvious suit preference, some time ago. Declarer plays the K from dummy and partner plays the 5.

Two questions:

1) Without specific discussion, with a good partner, do you assume you play obvious suit preference at trick 1? (regardless of this particular hand)

2) Is partner's signal on this hand attitude, count or suit preference?

Thank you in advance for useful comments, and for *not* discussing the merits of this 1 overcall.
