The auction is explained from Souths perspective. There was a break in tempo before 4, a longer pause before 4 and 2-3 minutes before 6.

The director polled people and none of them knew what the hesitations meant. This meant that South was free to make his pass of 6 because there was no clear action suggested over another by the BIT.

South said at the table he thought 6 was an offer, but later changed to saying it doesn’t exist which is why he passed.

I am not looking for further recourse nor to embarrass anyone, but this seems so bizarre since I believe if all bids were made in tempo South would not pass in a thousand years. But I do accept I may have the wrong idea about things.

So, what are people’s thoughts on these actions and director ruling?
