Has it happened to you ever?

It is quite rare that on a hand both sides genuinely want to play in 3NT and have decent odds for the contract. Have you come across any such hand?

Many many years ago, we had this hand (pips approximated).

We were young and aggressive and were sitting NS. North opened 3C and South bid 3NT. The contract depended on club finesse, which was not working and we went many down.

The session ended, it was a qualifying league and somehow we got assigned the same table. Those days, we used to deal manually and again somehow this deal did not get re-dealt. This time, we were EW and did not recognize the hands. The opponents were also different. The bidding started the same way. North opened 3C but south chose to pass. West reopened with double and East chose to bid 3NT. So 3NT again this time from EW direction and it needed 2-2 diamonds to succeed - needless to say we went down in this one also! When the deal was over, we realized what had happened and had a good laugh about it.

Was wondering if others have also had similar experiences?
