For your consideration: Are Bridge and Baseball facing similar problems appealing to youth?

I can't hit, pitch, field or catch and the only time I run is when they bring fresh food to the all you can eat buffet. Yet, I am a baseball fan from way back when I grew up about 10 blocks from Yankee Stadium and Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle were hitting home runs at record paces. I may be off-base here (admittedly a bad pun) but as I read this article on, I found myself frequently substituting Bridge for Baseball:

As I pursued even further by looking at the referenced book, Why Baseball Matters by Susan Jacoby, ( I again found myself often substituting Bridge for Baseball and ACBL for MLB (Major Leaague Baseball). I don't read much anymore so I don't feel qualified to recommend this book but as an old time baseball fan I enjoyed the book.

My takeaway is that just like Bridge and the ACBL, Baseball's appeal to youth is diminishing significantly and MLB is having trouble successfully addressing that problem. Maybe Bridge and Baseball can learn from each other.

But maybe I am wrong.
